Having regard to the requirements of what we tried was fulfilling a program, which exposes the residential complex typology, where I went in search of it way to simpler and playful embodiment, meeting the child's dream - a suspended tree house since the target is the younger crowd. Allowing yourself to a relaxing stay, landscaped framed with the surrounding flora and fauna to plant that may join later.

 

Modeled the terrain in order to find a flat area enough to stay and meet users outdoors where implemented the two buildings of collective services. On the periphery of this platform the existing slope of the land and the vegetation there proposal creates the notion of park / garden where planted, suspended, individual housing units in an attempt to "perfect" symbiosis with tree composition.

 

Individual housing units are designed, keeping the interior and privacy, creating inside a tubular / cylindrical glass connection to the "tree house" and this cylinder a source of indirect light and a thermal vent chimney.

 

The bathroom units are separated from households, because having to serve the strategic objective to more than one of these housing appear disaggregated by appealing to the sense of playfulness and fun on the way "to the house"; but also because it is intended to control the amount of construction and proportions of the housing. All this, housing modules and sanitary modules are interconnected by walkways in wood whose route will be done on the very trees of the surrounding vegetation, transferring to the wearer the feeling of a life in harmony with nature. These walkways of the various housing cores all flow into the central platform where the buildings of common services.

 

Thus meant that the student residence will constitute an urban recreational park speeding up so the work and the challenge of environment and study with the young students always faced. The choice of wood as a structural element of the external environment of buildings is therefore to materially better achieve the overall environment; Rolled steel profiles are the rigidities required for the structuring of housing and its aerial lift.

 

Easy and inexpensive construction, this project is always subject to adjustments or extensions since the break up of repeated units of easy construction, since the materials with structure in laminated steel profiles, and wooden profiles, enables a modular building rapid and economic construction, with industrial production characteristics in series according to the future trends of the construction industry.

 

Anyway, can not be a major project, but it is my dream place to live in Covilhã as a student.
