Being that designing a building, built in the historic center and a monument, World Heritage, adjacent to the site of intervention, is considered by many difficult task, in this work we tried to overcome these difficulties, making up a project of a Cultural Centre and Art Residency, with the above framework, and aiming to contribute to a municipal policy to revitalize the historic center.

The IncubArte building will be multi-purpose, designed in three different sets by volumetric and pre-existing typologies and its new functions. In particular I set a modern form of access to the new Monastery, a showroom and relocation space Alcobaça Parish Council. In Set II, an auditorium, a restaurant / café panoramic concert on the town of Alcobaça, in Set III a

projection room, the residences themselves for artists, in association with art workshops, open to the public.

Although this is only a building, from a whole Historical Center, not getting an immediate reconstruction of the "promenade" of Alcobaça of yore the artistic experience and the art market will induce the remaining occupation Rossio, other than the mere occupation

corporate and commercial, that desertification historic centers, replacing the occasional occupation, the interest of a permanent, given the new cultural and even economic outlook that the historic center now represents.

Being a rare or nonexistent equipment in Portugal, it is expected that this IncubArte building can make the international promotion of arts and regional artists and even national through a probable and expected exchange with similar centers in the international foreign and artists in the Monastery Santa Maria de Alcobaça as World Heritage by UNESCO, will serve as the anchor.
